Purpose-built blocks house 56.7% of the Royal Borough’s households, so oven cleaning here usually means a flat kitchen up a lift or a common stair. Single ovens start at £77.

Kitchens in the Royal Borough’s housing

The 2021 Census counted 66,884 households in Kensington and Chelsea. Flats made up 82.9% of them, and nearly a quarter of all households (23.5%) lived in a flat carved out of a converted or shared house. Terraced houses accounted for 12.8%, and semi-detached homes only 3.1%.

In the Earl’s Court ward the converted share is higher still: 30.7% of households live in converted or shared houses, bedsits included. A bedsit or shared-house oven is priced like any other single. Social renting is also a large part of the borough, at 27.6% of households, so many kitchens belong to council or housing association flats.

New kitchens are on the way too. In December 2025 the council’s planning committee resolved to approve the redevelopment of the former Earl’s Court exhibition centre site, with outline plans for up to 1,400 homes in the borough and 310 in the first phase, and referred it to the Mayor of London. Whatever the kitchen, the price follows the oven: single, double, single wide or a 90cm range.

Oven cleaning prices in Kensington and Chelsea

A single oven is £77, a double £110, a single wide oven £114 and a 90cm range £143. Hobs are £23 for ceramic and £28 for gas, a range hob or hood £48, and an extractor £28. One-off work starts at £67, so a hob or an extractor is best booked with the oven. The full price list has every other service.

When the street has no free parking, the cost of a bay on the day is added to the bill, capped at £40.

Booked alone or added to a move-out clean

Private renters are 39.6% of households here. Anyone moving out can add the oven to an end of tenancy clean in Kensington for £31 (single) or £62 (double or range), against £77 and £110 when the oven is booked on its own. The work on the oven is the same in both cases. The difference is the visit: on a move-out the team is already in the kitchen, while a standalone oven clean is a trip made for the oven alone.

The oven clean, part by part

The racks, trays and shelf supports come out and are soaked. While they soak, the cleaner works on the cavity, the door glass and the seals by hand, in your kitchen. The inner door glass is cleaned only where the door design lets it come apart. When the parts are clean they go back in, and the oven is usable the same evening; open a window for a while and any smell clears.

Before the cleaner arrives, let the oven cool, clear the worktop next to it and empty the drawer underneath. Keep the electricity and water on. The London oven cleaning page explains how sizes are measured and what counts as a range.

Parking for a short visit

An oven visit is short, which helps here. The council issues no visitor vouchers and no permits to businesses, so during controlled hours the cleaner pays by phone, at a rate set by tariff zone and fuel type, or uses an off-street car park such as the 24-hour one beneath Kensington Town Hall on Hornton Street. When controlled hours are over, a resident bay or a single yellow line can be used at no charge, so a visit late in the day costs less to park.

Shared kitchens in licensed HMOs

The council’s additional HMO licensing covers the whole borough from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2028. It takes in homes where at least three people from at least two households share, where the mandatory scheme for five or more occupiers does not already apply. In a shared house the oven is the one appliance every household uses. Landlords can book it between lets, or on its own when the tenants change room by room.

Booking an oven clean

Use the form, or call 020 3734 1438. It helps to know the oven’s width and whether it is a single, a double or a range, because that sets the price. We ring back to agree a day between 8am and 7pm and confirm the price against your kitchen. A 50% deposit holds the date, and the balance is paid once the oven is done.

Questions about oven cleaning in Kensington

How soon can I cook after the clean?

That evening. The parts are back in when the cleaner leaves, and leaving a window open for a while clears any smell.

Is the glass between the door panes cleaned?

Where the door design lets the inner glass come apart, yes. If the door is a sealed unit, the faces the cleaner can reach are cleaned and the space between the panes is left alone.

Do the racks leave the flat?

No. Everything is soaked and cleaned in your kitchen, so nothing is carried down the stairs or out to a vehicle.

How is a range cooker priced?

A 90cm range is £143 and a single wide oven £114. A range hob or hood is £48, booked at the same visit.

Do you cover Chelsea and Notting Hill as well?

Yes, the whole Royal Borough, from W8 and W11 down to SW3 and SW10. Postcodes.io shows SW3 spanning the Brompton and Hans Town, Chelsea Riverside, Royal Hospital and Stanley wards, so a flat in the Chelsea Riverside ward of Chelsea is on the same price list as one by High Street Kensington station.

Can a landlord book the oven for a shared house?

Yes. Tell us how many households share the kitchen and whether the hob and extractor need doing as well, and we price it when we ring back.

Ring 020 3734 1438 with the make and width of your oven.
