A woman on a window seat in a mansion block flat with tall sash windows

Cheyne, Royal Hospital and Sloane Square are all conservation areas in Chelsea, where 77.1% of households live in flats; a regular cleaner for one costs £23 an hour on a weekly rota.

The rest of the picture comes from the 2021 Census across the four areas that cover Chelsea, 12,017 households in all. 56.2% of them live in purpose-built blocks, 18.6% in converted or shared houses, 16.9% in terraced houses and 4.5% in semi-detached homes. Just over a third own their home (38.3%), 37.8% rent privately and 23.2% rent from a council or housing association.

So homes range from a one-bed in a block to a terraced house over four floors, and the cleaner needs to know which before the day. The number of floors and bathrooms decides the hours far more than the postcode does. The council also publishes conservation appraisals for Chelsea Park Carlyle, Sloane Stanley, Thames and Lots Village, among others. If an older house has original plaster or woodwork you want handled with extra care, say so on the form.

Prices for cleaning a Chelsea home

Regular cleaning is £23 an hour weekly and £24 fortnightly, three hours at least, so a weekly visit begins at £69. One-off deep cleans are charged by the cleaner-hour at £26, with £30 added once for equipment and detergents; two cleaners for three hours, the smallest booking, comes to £186. Any one-off job starts at £67.

Moving out has fixed prices by size: £156 for a studio, £207 for a one-bed, £243 for a two-bed and £339 for three bedrooms. Carpets, upholstery and ovens are on the full price list. Where a one-off clean has no free parking nearby, the cost of a street bay on the day is added, and that is never more than £40.

What a visit includes

A regular visit covers the kitchen (worktops, hob, sink, appliance fronts and the floor), the bathroom, dusting, beds and the floors throughout, done in an order that keeps finished surfaces clean. Limescale needs attention every time: Thames Water calls all the water in its region hard, and the scale shows first on chrome taps, glass shower screens and the kettle.

A deep clean adds what three hours a week never reaches, such as the inside of emptied kitchen cupboards, behind furniture that can be moved, skirting boards, door frames, window sills and their tracks, grout and the extractor hood. The team brings the equipment and products, and you leave the water and electricity on.

For tenants leaving a Chelsea flat, the end of tenancy clean comes with one promise: if the inventory clerk or agent marks something we cleaned, tell us within 48 hours and we return to put it right at no charge. Carpets are cleaned by hot water extraction from £36 a bedroom (see carpet cleaning in the borough), with rugs done where they lie. A single oven is £77 through oven cleaning: the racks and trays soak, the inside is cleaned by hand in your kitchen and it is ready again that evening.

Parking, councils and licensing in SW3 and SW10

Chelsea sits in the Royal Borough, covered as a whole on the Kensington and Chelsea page, but SW10 crosses the border. Postcodes.io puts SW10 in the Chelsea Riverside, Courtfield, Redcliffe and Stanley wards and also in Sands End, which belongs to Hammersmith and Fulham. An SW10 address can sit under either council, and that changes the parking and the landlord rules.

On the Kensington and Chelsea side a visiting cleaner has no permit to use. The council issues no visitor vouchers and offers no permits to businesses or visitors, so during controlled hours the choice is a pay-by-phone bay, charged from £1.90 to £8.40 an hour by tariff zone and fuel type with 10p on each session, or an off-street car park.

Landlords on that side need an additional HMO licence for a shared house where three or more people from two or more households live; the designation covers the whole borough from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2028. Sands End follows Hammersmith and Fulham’s own schemes, which the Fulham page sets out, and neighbouring Earl’s Court has a page of its own.

New homes planned at Lots Road South

In December 2025 the council’s planning committee considered the Lots Road South application alongside the Earl’s Court scheme and said the public benefits of both outweighed the harms. Between them the two schemes would provide more than 1,650 homes for the borough. Fitting-out dust on new flats is a job for an after builders clean, at £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents, from £212.

Questions about cleaning in Chelsea

My postcode is SW10. Which council am I under?

It depends on the street. SW10’s Chelsea Riverside, Courtfield, Redcliffe and Stanley wards are in Kensington and Chelsea, and its Sands End ward is in Hammersmith and Fulham. Our prices are the same either way; the parking and licensing rules follow the council.

Where does the cleaner park in Chelsea?

During controlled hours, in a pay-by-phone bay or an off-street car park, since there are no visitor vouchers to hand over. Outside controlled hours anyone may park free in resident bays, pay-by-phone bays and on single yellow lines.

Do you clean houses as well as flats?

Yes. Around one Chelsea household in six lives in a terraced house. Houses take longer because of the stairs and the extra bathrooms, so a regular visit may need more than the three-hour minimum, and we agree the hours with you when we ring back.

Can I book an oven clean on its own?

Yes: £77 for a single oven, £110 for a double and £143 for a 90cm range. Shelf supports come out with the racks to soak, and the inner door glass is cleaned where the door design lets it come apart.

When can a Chelsea clean be booked?

We clean from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week. Send the form or ring 020 3734 1438 at any time; we ring back to agree the date and the price, and a 50% deposit secures it, with the rest paid after the clean.

Tell us the street and the size of the home, and we will ring back with a price for your Chelsea clean.
