Semis, terraces and flats across Brent
The 2021 Census counted 118,612 households in Brent. Flats housed 56.6% of them, 38.0% in purpose-built blocks and 16.5% in converted or shared houses; semi-detached homes held 22.3%, terraced houses 14.9% and detached houses 6.0%. The south-east of the borough is different again. The Kilburn Neighbourhood Plan describes the streets on either side of Kilburn High Road as predominantly Victorian housing stock with some significant areas of social housing, and in Brent’s Kilburn ward 88.2% of households live in flats, 29.6% of them in converted or shared houses. Those flats tend to have their own internal stairs only when they are split over two floors.

Included in every carpet clean
The cleaner vacuums first, so grit comes out before any water goes in, and pre-treats spots and the worn path through each room. The carpet is then cleaned by hot water extraction, which pushes hot water and a cleaning solution into the pile and pulls it back out with the dirt. Rugs are cleaned where they lie and are never collected. The cleaner brings the machine; you keep the water and electricity on.
A three-bedroom semi and a three-bedroom flat come out differently. In the flat it is three bedrooms, a living room at £43 and a hallway. If the semi has a through lounge (£61), a flight (£41) and a landing (£9), those go on top of the three bedrooms, so the stairs and landing add a fair share to the total.

Damp floors and surface water
The Kilburn Neighbourhood Plan says the area has no river flood risk apart from Kingsgate Road, where the former Kilburn stream has flooded before, but that other areas face a significant threat of surface water flooding. Ground-floor and basement flats feel that first. A carpet in a room with damp walls and little moving air will take longer than the usual few hours to dry, so open the windows, leave the heating on low and keep the door to the rest of the flat open. Parking for a carpet clean in Brent
There is no trade permit, and the council has stopped issuing temporary permits. A resident in a controlled zone can apply for a RingGo visitor permit and then buy the cleaner a session: £1.75 for 2 hours or £3.50 for 4 hours, non-refundable. Zones W (Wembley Hill) and E (Ealing Road) are controlled from 8am to 9pm every day, bank holidays included, but the visitor permit for those two zones lets visitors park from 6.30pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday and all day on Sunday. A Sunday booking in zone W or E is the easy one to park for.
On Wembley Stadium event days, parking in the event day zone is limited to permit holders from the morning to midnight, so pick another date if you live near the stadium.
Carpets between lets
Selective licensing covers 21 of Brent’s 22 wards, and from 2 February 2026 an additional HMO licence has applied borough-wide to homes shared by three or four people from two or more households.
