Terraces, conversions and blocks in the borough
Flats made up 75.3% of the borough’s 81,244 households in 2021, purpose-built (48.1%) far more often than converted (24.5%). Terraced houses were 18.8% and semi-detached homes 4.7%. The mix moves from one end of the borough to the other. Across the Census areas covering Fulham the terraced share is 24.1%, while in Shepherd’s Bush just over a third of households (34.3%) have a home in a converted or shared house.
The council has 44 conservation areas covering about half of the borough. In Hammersmith they include Brook Green, The Mall, Hammersmith Grove and Westcroft Square; in Fulham, Parsons Green, Moore Park, Bishops Park and Hurlingham. The Hammersmith Town Hall area, formerly called King Street East, is one of them, and two more conservation areas in the north of the borough are run by the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation.
A terraced house and a flat in a converted house of the same size are priced quite differently. The terrace has its own staircase, so on top of the bedrooms and the living room there is £41 for each flight and £9 for each landing. The converted flat usually stops at the front door: bedrooms, a living room and a hallway at £22, with the shared stair outside belonging to the building.

Bedrooms
Small things come off the floor before the cleaner starts. The carpet is vacuumed, marks are pre-treated, and then hot water and a cleaning solution are injected and drawn back out by the extraction machine. Beds and wardrobes are cleaned around.
Living room or through lounge
This is where the traffic lanes are: from the door to the sofa and from the sofa to the kitchen. Those lanes are pre-treated before the main clean. A through lounge, two rooms knocked into one, is priced as one area at £61.
Stairs and landings
Each tread and riser is cleaned with a hand tool, working down from the top landing so nobody needs to step on a clean flight. A stairwell with no window dries slower than a bedroom you can open up, so leave the front door or a landing window open for a while if you can.
Hallway

Adding upholstery to the same visit

Parking zones in Hammersmith and Fulham
Each zone keeps its own hours. In a lot of them, control stops at 5pm on weekdays and there is none at the weekend; zones A, B, C and E stay controlled seven days a week, from 8.30am until 11pm. Pay and display is charged by the vehicle’s CO2 band, between £2.80 and £7 an hour, but if you hold a resident visitor permit, a RingGo visitor session for the cleaner starts at £1.80 an hour. Residents can book sessions for up to five vehicles at once, and a visitor permit only works in the zone where the resident lives. In most zones that run on Sundays, residents’ visitors pay nothing that day, though the session still has to be switched on in RingGo.
