Harrow homes and their carpets

Put the semis together with terraced houses (16.9%) and detached houses (11.3%) and 65.3% of Harrow households live in a house, most of them with a staircase. Flats hold 34.5%: 26.2% in purpose-built blocks and 6.4% in converted or shared houses. Most households here own their home (58.8%), and 29.6% rent privately.

Compare a three-bedroom semi with a two-bedroom flat in a block. The semi’s list is three bedrooms at £36 each, a through lounge at £61, the stairs at £41, the landing at £9 and the hallway at £22. The flat’s is two bedrooms, a living room at £43 and a hallway, with no stairs or landing to add. Tell us on the call which rooms are carpeted and we add them up.

The carpet clean in each room

Bedrooms, living room and through lounge

The cleaner hoovers first to lift the dry grit, treats marks and the walking line from the door, then cleans the whole carpet by hot water extraction. The machine rinses the pile with hot water and a cleaning solution and pulls it straight back out, along with the dirt it has loosened.

Stairs, landing and hallway

Stairs are priced by the flight and cleaned the same way, step by step, with the landing at the top. The hallway is done last, since it is the way in and out.

Rugs

Rugs are cleaned where they lie and never collected. A rug on a wooden or laminate floor should be left face up in place to dry.

Most carpets are dry within a few hours; how quickly depends on ventilation, so open the windows and the room doors if you can. We bring the machine, and you keep the water and electricity on.

Carpets between lets, and with a move-out clean

Six Harrow wards came under selective licensing during 2026. A landlord getting a home ready between tenants can book the carpets on their own at the prices above or added to an end of tenancy clean in Harrow at £29 a bedroom and £36 a living room. Book the clean far enough ahead of the inspection for the carpet to dry before the clerk walks on it.

Shared houses have their own rules. Since 11 June 2026, turning a home into a small HMO for 3 to 6 people has needed planning permission anywhere in the borough, and a new additional licence for three or four sharers is due to start on 6 January 2027. In a shared house each let bedroom is priced at £36 and the shared living room at £43.

If a sofa, an armchair or a mattress needs doing on the same visit, upholstery cleaning is priced by the piece; mention it on the call.

Parking for a carpet clean in Harrow

Harrow prints each zone’s controlled hours on the entry signs and on the council’s CPZ map. Normal CPZ rules still apply on bank holidays, so a bank holiday booking is no easier to park for than a weekday. Check the sign at the end of your road before the day and tell us what it says when we ring back. Inside a zone, a virtual visitor permit bought online for the day covers the cleaner’s parking.

Booking a Harrow carpet clean

Send the form with your postcode and the list of rooms, or ring 020 3734 1438. We ring back to agree the day and confirm the price; half is paid as a deposit to hold the date and the rest once the carpets are done. Cleaners are vetted and trained, and we work 8am to 7pm, seven days. The London carpet cleaning page covers stains and drying in more detail.

Questions about carpet cleaning in Harrow

Do you cover Pinner, Stanmore and Wealdstone?

Yes, the whole borough at the same prices: HA1, HA2, HA3 and HA7, and the Harrow parts of HA0, HA4, HA5, HA8, UB5 and UB6.

Can I put the furniture back straight away?

Wait until the carpet is dry if you can. If something has to go back sooner, put a square of foil or a plastic lid under each wooden or metal leg.

Do you clean rugs?

Yes, on the floor where each one lies: £35 up to 3 square metres and £51 for a larger rug. Mention fringed or hand-dyed rugs on the call.

Do you clean carpets on council estates?

Yes, on any estate in the borough. Harrow’s estate car parks run their own permit schemes (Zones H1 to H5), so tell us which applies when we ring back.

Can you clean just one bedroom?

Yes, but a single bedroom comes in under our £67 minimum for one-off work, so £67 is what you pay. A second room or the landing makes better use of the visit.

Should I hoover before the cleaner comes?

There is no need, as the cleaner hoovers first. Clear small things off the floor, such as shoes, boxes and toys, and tell us about anything heavy that has to stay.

Ring 020 3734 1438 and list the rooms, stairs and rugs.
