Affinity Water’s Uxbridge zone measured 308 mg/l of hardness in its 2025 report, very hard by Thames Water’s scale, so a regular cleaner here, at £23 an hour, spends real time on limescale.
A regular visit is three hours or more. This is how those hours go in a one or two-bedroom Uxbridge flat.
Three hours in an Uxbridge flat, bathroom first
The cleaner starts in the bathroom, where the hard water shows most. Scale comes off the shower screen, the taps, the shower head and the base of the toilet, and then the bath or tray, the basin and the tiles are cleaned and the mirror polished. Done weekly, that is a light job; left for months, it needs a deep clean.
The kitchen comes second: worktops cleared and wiped, hob and splashback degreased, sink and taps descaled and dried, cupboard and appliance fronts wiped, bins emptied. In the third hour the cleaner dusts the living room and the bedrooms, makes the beds, hoovers the carpets and mops the hard floors, finishing at the front door.
Most Uxbridge flats are in purpose-built blocks (32.9% of households in the Uxbridge and Colham & Cowley wards, against 3.5% in converted houses), so most have no stairs inside and three hours goes a long way. The Uxbridge ward alone is 42.7% flats. The semis (31.0% of households across both wards) and detached houses (13.3%) take longer, and their bedrooms can go on a rota.
A deep clean is two cleaners or more with their own equipment and products, for the work a weekly visit leaves: inside emptied cupboards, door tops, skirting, radiators, grout and behind the furniture. It suits a flat that has gone a while without a cleaner, before a weekly rota starts.

Brunel students and shared houses
Brunel University London, given its Royal Charter in 1966, has its campus in Uxbridge. All its halls are on campus, and its Brunel Student Lettings service runs a scheme for landlords renting property in the local area, so students rent privately in the town as well. Across the two wards 28.2% of households rent privately, 20.1% rent socially and 50.1% own.
Shared houses here come under two sets of rules. In Uxbridge South and Brunel wards, turning a single house into an HMO for up to six people needs planning permission (the council has a map of the area), and a licence is needed where five or more unrelated people live together. Since 24 August 2026 the additional HMO scheme has also covered every shared home in the borough with three or more people from two or more households.
Uxbridge is in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Its bulky waste service is £53 for up to six items for a resident and £94 for a landlord, collected on weekdays from 6am, and residents can also take things to the Harefield Civic Amenity Site or Space Waye in Feltham.
Parking bays, the station and booking
Uxbridge station is in zone 6 and has the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines. Permit-holder bays in the borough usually run 9am to 5pm on weekdays and are open to anyone outside the hours on the sign. Pay and display bays usually charge from 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, through the machine or PayByPhone, and are free on Sundays and bank holidays, which makes Sunday an easy day for a long deep clean near those bays.
To book, send the form or ring 020 3734 1438, whatever the hour. We ring back between 8am and 7pm on any day to agree the date and check the price against the home; the date is secured with a 50% deposit and the rest is paid when the clean is done. Every cleaner we send is vetted and trained.

Uxbridge cleaning questions
Do you clean shared student houses?
Yes, during a let or at the end of one. A deep clean is priced by the hour for the house as it is; an end of tenancy clean in a shared house is priced by the room. Ask the other sharers to clear their rooms before the day.
Do I need to buy a voucher for the cleaner?
Only if you live in a permit area and the clean falls within the bay hours. A resident’s visitor permit holds up to 50 virtual sessions; the first ten vouchers for each property are free and the next ten cost £15.60.
Why does limescale come back so quickly in Uxbridge?
The water is very hard: 308 mg/l in Affinity Water’s 2025 report for the Uxbridge zone, from a single sample, against the 300 mg/l line for very hard on Thames Water’s scale. A weekly descale keeps it under control, and a deep clean deals with build-up that has been left.
Who can tell me whether my house needs an HMO licence?
Hillingdon Council’s Private Sector Housing team, which gives HMO advice from the Civic Centre in Uxbridge (UB8 1UW).
Do you cover Cowley and the rest of UB8?
Yes: Colham and Cowley ward, all of UB8 and the Uxbridge parts of UB9, UB10 and UB11.
Send the form with your UB8 postcode, or the room count for a shared house, and we will ring back with the price.
