Barking Riverside is being built on the site of the former Barking Power Station, with up to 20,000 homes planned. Oven cleaning there and across Barking and Dagenham starts at £77 for a single oven.
Kitchens in Barking and Dagenham’s homes
Most of the borough’s kitchens are in houses. At the 2021 Census, 41.6% of households lived in terraced houses and 22.1% in semis, against 31.1% in flats and 5.1% in detached houses. Among them is the Becontree estate, built by the London County Council from 1921 to the mid-1930s as small two-storey homes with gardens, mostly in Dagenham with the rest in Barking. The Thames View estate followed between 1954 and 1960, put up on reclaimed former marshland.
Social renting is 31.5% of households borough-wide and higher still in Thames View (44.5%), Gascoigne (42.1%) and Heath (40.5%), so a large share of local kitchens belong to the council or a housing association. Tenants in those homes book an oven clean the same way as anyone else, and the price follows the oven.
Barking Riverside is the newest part of the borough: a former industrial site larger than Hyde Park, with 2 km of Thames frontage, developed by a joint venture of L&Q and the Mayor of London. The Suffragette line ends there, running from Gospel Oak through Barking. A new-build kitchen there is priced by its oven like any other.

Single, double or range: sizing the oven
The price depends on the oven, so it helps to know which one you have before you ring. A single oven has one cavity and one door. A double has two cavities stacked one above the other, usually a main oven with a smaller top oven and grill, so there are two doors, two sets of racks and twice the seals. A single wide oven is one cavity wider than the standard 60cm, and a 90cm range cooker has a wide main oven, often with a second one beside it, under a range hob.
Racks, cavity and door: the oven clean
The racks, trays and shelf supports come out first and go into a soak. While they soak, the cleaner works on the cavity, the glass and the door seals by hand, in your kitchen. The inner door glass is cleaned only where the door design lets it come apart. Once the parts are back in, the oven can be used the same evening, and a window left open for a while clears any smell.
Before the visit, let the oven cool, clear the worktop beside it and keep the electricity and water on. The oven cleaning page for London says more about sizes and what counts as a range.
Visitor vouchers for the cleaner’s car
In a controlled parking zone the resident buys a visitor voucher online for the cleaner’s vehicle: £1.40 for four hours or £3.70 for the whole day. The vouchers are non-refundable, so wait until the visit time is agreed, and we tell you which length to buy when we ring back. Buying one needs proof of address and the registration of the visiting vehicle, which we give you with the time.
Ovens in licensed shared houses
Shared houses with three or four people from two or more households have needed an additional HMO licence since 9 January 2025, anywhere in the borough, and mandatory licensing covers five or more. The scheme ends in January 2030. One oven feeds every household in a house like that, so a landlord may want it done between tenants, or when one room changes hands, with the hob and extractor at the same visit.
Booking an oven clean
Send the form or ring 020 3734 1438 with your postcode and the type of oven. The width and the number of doors are enough to price it. We ring back to agree a day between 8am and 7pm and confirm the price against your kitchen. A 50% deposit secures the visit, and the rest is paid once the oven is clean. If the hob or the extractor needs doing too, say so at the start so it goes on the same visit.
End of tenancy and carpet pages for the borough
If the oven is part of a move-out, an end of tenancy clean in Barking and Dagenham adds it for £31 or £62. Weekly and one-off home cleaning is on the Barking and Dagenham area page.

Oven cleaning questions in Barking and Dagenham
When can I use the oven again?
The same evening. Every part is back in place before the cleaner leaves, and a window open for a while clears the smell.
Do the racks go off to be cleaned somewhere else?
No. They are soaked and cleaned in your kitchen with everything else, so nothing leaves the home.
Can the inside of the oven door glass be reached?
Only where the door design lets the inner glass come apart. Where it does not, the cleaner cleans every glass face that can be reached from outside the door.
Does a shared house cost more?
No. The oven is priced by its type, however many households cook on it. A landlord with an HMO can book it between lets and add the hob or extractor to the same visit.
Is a range cooker priced differently?
Yes. A 90cm range is £143, and if the range hob or hood above it needs doing too, it is £48.
Ring 020 3734 1438 and tell us whether it is a single, a double or a range.
