Westminster is a renting city: 43.3% of households rent privately and 28.3% from a social landlord (Census 2021). Oven cleaning here starts at £77 for a single oven, done by hand in your kitchen.
Living and renting in Westminster now
Owners are the smallest group, at 27.4% of households. The private-rented share reaches 53.6% around Paddington station and 53.5% across the three Bayswater Census areas, and in Bayswater East it is 60.8%. With that much renting, many ovens change hands with the keys.
The kitchens sit in very different buildings. Queensway has shops and restaurants at street level with homes above, and 1930s red-brick mansion blocks at its quieter northern end. The Hallfield Estate, built from 1951 to 1959 to a design by Drake and Lasdun, is fifteen blocks of six and ten storeys set at 45 degrees to the streets around them. Mayfair’s mews were stabling and coach houses before they became homes. In Pimlico the blocks get bigger: Dolphin Square on Grosvenor Road, some 1,200 flats with shops and a restaurant, was the largest single block of flats in Europe when it was built, and the post-war Churchill Gardens estate by the Thames has slab blocks of 9 to 11 storeys. The City Plan sets a target of at least 1,000 new homes for the Paddington Opportunity Area.
Licensing and shared kitchens
Selective licensing has applied to most private lets in 15 of the city’s 18 wards from 24 November 2025, with Pimlico South, St James’s and Vincent Square left out. Westminster’s additional HMO scheme, renewed from 31 August 2026 for five years, covers homes where three or more people from two or more households share a kitchen or bathroom. In a home like that one oven serves the whole house, so pick a day when the kitchen can be left to the cleaner for the visit.
The oven clean, part by part
The racks, trays and shelf supports come out first and go into a soak. While they soak, the cleaner works through the cavity by hand: the roof, the sides, the back, the floor, then the door glass and the seals. Where the door is built to come apart, the inner pane comes out and the grease between the panes is cleaned as well; a sealed door keeps its inner glass as it is.
All of it happens in your kitchen. The soaked parts are cleaned, rinsed and put back, and the oven is ready to use the same evening. Leave a window open for a while afterwards and any cleaning smell goes. You keep the water and electricity on throughout.
A hob or extractor can be done on the same visit: £23 for a ceramic hob, £28 for a gas hob, £28 for an extractor, and £48 for a range hob or hood.
Single, double, wide and range ovens
The price follows the oven, so it helps to know which one you have. A single oven has one cavity behind one door. A double has two cavities, one above the other, each with its own door, and costs £110 against £77 for a single. A single wide oven is one cavity in a cooker 90cm across or more, at £114. A 90cm range cooker is £143. If you are not sure which you have, describe the cooker when we ring back and we will place it.

Booking an oven clean in Westminster
Send the form, or ring 020 3734 1438, with the postcode and the type of oven. We call back to fix the day and check the price against the oven you have. A deposit of half the price secures the slot, and the rest is paid when the oven is done. Lines are open 8am to 7pm every day, and you can ring any time.
An oven visit is short, so the cleaner normally pays for a bay by the hour. In zone B (Bayswater and the south of Maida Vale) that is £2.66 to £5.90 an hour depending on the vehicle’s emissions, and in zone E (Mayfair and St James’s) £4.56 to £10.10. Westminster has removed its street pay machines, so payment is through RingGo, PayByPhone, JustPark, by phone or with a Parking Card from a library. The London oven cleaning page explains what counts as a range and how the move-out add-on price works.

Westminster oven cleaning questions
Is a shared-house oven priced differently?
No. The price follows the oven, so a single oven is £77 whether two people use it or six.
Do any parts leave the flat?
Nothing leaves your home. The racks and trays soak in your kitchen while the cavity is cleaned by hand, and everything goes back in before the cleaner leaves.
Can I cook dinner the same day?
Yes. The oven can be used the same evening. Open a window for a while first if there is any smell left from the cleaning.
Will the glass between the door panes be cleaned?
Where the door design lets it come apart, yes: the inner pane is removed, cleaned and refitted. Some doors are sealed units, and on those the inner glass stays as it is.
Can the oven be added to a move-out clean?
Yes. Booked with an end of tenancy clean, the oven is £31 for a single or £62 for a double or 90cm range; the move-out prices are on the Westminster end of tenancy page.
Ring 020 3734 1438 with the postcode and which oven you have.
