Renting, the town centre and the Suburb

Golders Green is a renters’ place: 48.1% of households in the ward rent privately, against 32.7% across Barnet, while 44.3% own and only 7.6% rent socially. Next door, Garden Suburb ward (Hampstead Garden Suburb) is far more owner-occupied, with 69.6% of households owning their home.

The town centre conservation area is small in people terms. About 400 people live inside it, within a wider Golders Green of over 16,000, and it takes in the station and the bus and coach station as well as the parades, with a war memorial marking the main junction. The suburb around it came with the Underground: the Hampstead tube reached Golders Green in 1907 and Edgware in 1924, after which most of the old Hendon parish was covered by suburban housing, both planned (Hampstead Garden Suburb) and commercially built.

Golders Green cleaning questions

Can you clean a flat above the shops on Golders Green Road?

Yes. The town centre is mostly parades with homes above the shops, and we clean those flats at the usual rates. Tell us how the street door and stairs work when we ring back.

Do you cover Hampstead Garden Suburb?

Yes. The Suburb is next door to Golders Green and inside Barnet, and we clean there on the same terms, weekly, fortnightly or as a one-off.

Is a semi priced differently from a flat?

Only by the time it takes. Regular visits are charged by the hour and deep cleans by the cleaner-hour, so a semi with more rooms costs more because it needs more hours. A moving-out clean is a fixed price set by the number of bedrooms.

How do I cover parking for the cleaner’s car?

If you live in a controlled zone, a virtual visitor permit (£2.60 each, minimum order of 4) covers one day in your zone’s permit bays. Without one, street parking is charged as explained near the top of the page.
