Almost a third of Notting Hill households (31.9%) live in a flat inside a converted or shared house. A weekly cleaner for one costs £23 an hour, with a three-hour minimum.
A regular visit to a W11 flat, start to finish
The order matters more than the speed, because a room cleaned out of sequence gets dusty again. This is the usual run for a regular visit:
- The cleaner rings your bell at the agreed time and starts in the kitchen: worktops, hob, splashback, sink, the fronts of cupboards and appliances, then the bins.
- The bathroom comes next. Thames Water says all the water in its region is hard, so limescale on the taps, the shower screen and around the plughole gets its own few minutes each week before the toilet, mirror and floor.
- Bedrooms and the living room are dusted from high to low, beds changed if you leave linen out, and skirting boards wiped as the cleaner goes.
- Any stairs inside the flat are done, and hoovering and mopping finish the visit, working back to the front door.
- Rubbish and recycling go wherever your building keeps them; point out the bin store on the first visit.
A deep clean follows the same order with far more in each room: inside the emptied cupboards, the tops of the wall units, behind furniture that can be moved, door frames, radiators, grout and the inside of windows. Two cleaners or more do it, with our own equipment and products, so all you leave on is the water and electricity.
- End of tenancy cleaningfrom £156A fixed price by the size of the home, with a 48-hour re-clean if the inventory clerk marks something we cleaned.
- Deep cleaningfrom £186A team of two or more for a day of the jobs a weekly clean never reaches.
- Domestic cleaningfrom £69 a visitA weekly or fortnightly cleaner, the same person where we can manage it.
- After builders cleaningfrom £212Dust, paint spots and grout film cleared once the trades have gone.
- Carpet cleaningfrom £67Hot water extraction priced by the room, rugs cleaned where they lie.
- Upholstery cleaningfrom £67Sofas, armchairs, mattresses and curtains, priced by the piece.

Notting Hill prices
Weekly cleaning is £23 an hour and fortnightly £24, which makes a three-hour weekly visit £69. Deep cleaning is £26 per cleaner-hour plus £30 for equipment and detergents, with two cleaners for three hours as the smallest job at £186. Moving-out cleans are fixed by size, from £156 for a studio and £243 for a two-bed, and one-off work of any kind starts at £67. Ovens, carpets and sofas are priced on the price list. If there is no free parking at the address, a one-off clean carries the street parking cost on the day, never above £40.
Market days, Carnival and parking in W11
Portobello Road changes with the week. A council consultation on the road refers to an existing closure during market hours on Fridays and Saturdays, so a clean on or just off the market stretch is easier to plan for Monday to Thursday.
Carnival affects move-outs more than regular cleans. The council does not run bulky waste collections on the Tuesday after Notting Hill Carnival, so if a flat is being cleared that week, book the collection for another day before the cleaners come in.
For parking, Notting Hill follows the rules of the Royal Borough as a whole (the Kensington and Chelsea page covers them): pay-by-phone bays or a car park during controlled hours, no visitor vouchers and no permit for tradespeople. Outside controlled hours, resident bays and single yellow lines are open to anyone at no charge.
At least four conservation areas lie in W11. The Ladbroke conservation area appraisal was adopted on 15 October 2015, and the council publishes appraisals for Pembridge, Colville and Norland too. Ladbroke Square Garden, begun in 1842 as part of the Ladbroke Estate’s layout of crescents and communal gardens, is one of the largest private garden squares in London and is on the National Heritage List’s register of parks and gardens, according to the London Gardens Trust. Next door, Bayswater and Shepherd’s Bush have pages of their own.
Moving out, carpets and ovens
38.5% of households in the area rent privately, and a shared house of three or more people from two or more households needs the council’s additional HMO licence, which runs across the borough from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2028. When a tenancy ends, our end of tenancy cleaning carries a fixed price and a promise: if the inventory clerk or letting agent marks something we cleaned, you tell us within 48 hours and we return at no charge to put it right.
Carpet cleaning uses hot water extraction, £36 a bedroom and £43 a living room, and the carpet usually dries in a few hours if a window can be opened. For the kitchen, oven cleaning starts at £77; racks and trays soak while the cavity, glass and seals are done by hand, and you can cook that evening.
To book, send the form or ring 020 3734 1438 any time. We ring back between 8am and 7pm, any day of the week, to fix the date and confirm the price against your flat, and a 50% deposit holds the slot, with the balance due once the clean is done.
Notting Hill cleaning questions
Can you clean on a Portobello market day?
Yes. The council’s consultation refers to Portobello Road being closed during market hours on Fridays and Saturdays, so a Friday or Saturday booking at that end of the road needs a word about where the cleaner can stop. Tell us if your door is on the market stretch and we will plan the arrival time around it.
Do you clean the shared hallway in a converted house?
We clean inside your flat as standard. Communal stairs and halls are usually looked after by the freeholder or managing agent; if you want them done as well, say so on the form and we include them in the hours.
Is there a bulky waste collection the week after Carnival?
Not on the Tuesday after Notting Hill Carnival, when the council’s bulky waste collections do not run. Book another day if you are clearing furniture before a moving-out clean.
How long does a deep clean of a Notting Hill flat take?
It depends on the size and the state of the flat. The minimum is two cleaners for three hours, which costs £186; a larger flat or one that has gone a long time between cleans takes longer, and we agree the hours on the call before you pay anything.
Do landlords of shared houses in W11 need a licence?
Yes, in most cases. The additional licensing scheme covers HMOs with three or more occupiers from two or more households across the whole borough, alongside mandatory licensing for HMOs with five or more occupiers.
Ring 020 3734 1438 or send the form with your W11 address, and we will call back with a price.
