Flats, semis and terraces from Hounslow West to Chiswick

At the 2021 Census 45.8% of Hounslow households lived in flats, most of them (37.4% of all households) in purpose-built blocks, while 28.6% lived in semis and 20.5% in terraces. Private renting stood at 30.9%, social renting at 21.0% and owning at 45.7%.

Around Hounslow West the council describes mainly inter-war and early post-war two-storey terraces and semis, with big trading estates to the west and the town centre about a kilometre east along Bath Road. A semi like that and a two-bedroom flat in a block make different move-outs. The semi has a staircase, a landing and a hall to clean, banister and all. The block flat stops at its own front door, because the corridors and lifts belong to the building.

Chiswick rents a little more. Across its three wards 33.5% of households rent privately (38.5% in Chiswick Gunnersbury) and 57.2% live in flats. W4 also crosses borough lines: the postcode takes in Southfield ward in Ealing and Ravenscourt in Hammersmith and Fulham, so a W4 let can sit under Ealing’s rules or Hammersmith and Fulham’s for licensing, parking and bins. The district has its own Chiswick cleaning page.

Hounslow’s HMO licence

The council designated its additional HMO licensing scheme on 11 September 2025. It runs from 11 December 2025 to 10 December 2030 across the borough and covers shared homes with three or more people in two or more households, while mandatory licensing continues for five or more. An unlicensed landlord cannot serve a section 21 notice while the HMO stays unlicensed. The detail is on the council’s HMO licensing page.

An end of tenancy clean is the last clean of a let, room by room

An end of tenancy clean is the deep clean of an empty rented home before the keys go back, room by room against the check-in inventory.

Kitchen

Inside and outside every cupboard and drawer, the worktops, tiles and splashback, the hob and cooker hood and the sink and taps, then the fridge and freezer once emptied and switched off. The floor comes last, kickboards included.

Bathroom

Limescale off the taps, shower head and screen; then the bath or tray, toilet, basin, tiles, grout and mirror.

Bedrooms and living room

Skirting boards, door frames, sockets, radiators, sills, the inside of the windows and of fitted wardrobes, then the floor.

Stairs and hall

In a house, every tread and riser, the banister and the landing. In a flat, the hall and the back of the front door.

We bring the equipment and the products; please leave the water and electricity on. If the inventory clerk or letting agent marks something we cleaned, tell us within 48 hours and we return to put it right at no charge.

Add-ons on the same day

The oven is £31, or £62 for a double or a 90cm range, and carpets are £29 a bedroom and £36 the living room, done by the same team on the same visit. Stairs, rugs and hallways have their own prices on the Hounslow carpet cleaning page.

Visitor permits for a Hounslow move-out

Hounslow’s controlled zones show their hours on the boards at each entry. A resident’s visitor permit gives 30 one-hour sessions for twenty-eight pounds fifty, and a household can hold up to ten in a 12-month period. The application is a paper form, returned by post or email. That takes time, so apply well before the tenancy ends: a team on site for most of the day uses several sessions per vehicle.

The council’s business permit is meant for firms whose premises are inside a controlled zone, which makes the resident’s visitor permit the practical option for a visiting cleaner.

Clearing furniture first

Hounslow’s bulky waste service charges forty-one pounds for up to five items, or seventy-two pounds to a landlord. It is booked by phone and collects Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm; from a flat, the items must be in a communal area, with the landlord’s permission to leave them there. Waste from home improvements does not count as bulky waste. Space Waye in Feltham, the reuse and recycling centre, takes bookings in advance. Clear the rooms before the cleaning day so the team starts on empty floors.

Booking a Hounslow move-out

Send the form or ring 020 3734 1438 with the postcode, how many bedrooms there are and the date the keys go back. When we call back, we agree the day and confirm what the home will cost. A 50% deposit fixes the date and the balance is due after the clean. Our end of tenancy cleaning page has the London-wide checklist.

Moving out in Hounslow: questions

My flat is in W4. Which council’s rules apply?

That depends on the ward. W4 covers Hounslow’s three Chiswick wards, Southfield in Ealing and Ravenscourt in Hammersmith and Fulham. Licensing, parking and bins follow whichever council the street is in. Our price is the same in all three.

Can a landlord book the clean between tenants?

Yes, landlords and agents book exactly as tenants do. A licensed shared house is priced by room, with the shared kitchen and bathroom counted once.

How early should I apply for visitor permits?

As soon as you have a date. Hounslow handles visitor permits by paper form, sent by post or email, so leave time for the council to deal with it.

Can the clean happen on bulky collection day?

Yes, once the items are out. Collections run Monday to Friday between 7am and 3pm, so on a collection day an afternoon start keeps the two apart.

Do you clean at weekends?

Yes, every day from 8am to 7pm. If your zone’s entry boards show weekend hours, the cleaner’s vehicle still needs a visitor session.

Ring 020 3734 1438 with the date your Hounslow tenancy ends.
