An end of tenancy clean covers the route the check-out clerk walks
An end of tenancy clean is one visit to the empty flat, after your belongings have gone, that returns every room to the state written on the check-in inventory. The cleaners work through the home in the order a clerk checks it.
Front door and hallway
The front door on both sides, the entryphone handset, light switches and sockets, the cupboard that houses the meter or boiler, the skirting boards and the floor.
Kitchen
Every cupboard and drawer inside and out, then the worktops, splashback, hob, extractor filter, sink and taps; the outside of each appliance is wiped too. The fridge and freezer are washed once you have emptied and defrosted them. The oven is an add-on at £31.
Bathroom
Thames Water’s 2025 reports for its Whitechapel and Poplar zones show mean hardness of 273 and 272 mg/l, in the company’s hard band, so the taps, shower head, screen and tiles are descaled before the bath, basin and toilet are cleaned and the grout is scrubbed.
Bedrooms and living room
Wardrobes inside, radiators, door frames, the inside of the windows and any balcony door with their frames and sills, then the carpets vacuumed to the edges and the hard floors mopped.
The cleaners arrive with their own equipment and products; the flat needs its water and electricity left on. If the inventory clerk or letting agent marks something we cleaned, tell us within 48 hours and we return to put it right at no charge.

Some of the newest lets in Canary Wharf are below market rent: 30, 50 and 65 Harbord Square at Wood Wharf hold more than 300 flats let at Tower Hamlets Standard Rents or at 80 per cent of local market rent. The estate around them is private, run by Canary Wharf Management, so lifts, loading and sign-in are questions for your building or estate team; we ask about them when we ring back.
Licensing for shared and rented flats
Additional licensing covers all of Tower Hamlets from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2029. Any flat or house let to three or more people from two or more households needs a licence from the council. The separate selective scheme for single-household lets in Weavers, Whitechapel and Spitalfields & Banglatown ran from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2026, and the council stopped taking new applications when it closed; licences already issued stay valid for up to five years. Bethnal Green ward was never part of that scheme.
Parking and visitor vouchers on moving-out day
A resident’s visitor voucher in Tower Hamlets costs £3.90 and lasts a day, but the council sells them only to people who live at the address. A landlord or owner living elsewhere is not eligible, and once the tenant has handed in the keys there may be nobody left who can buy one. In that case the team pays at the cashless bays, which cost £5.50 to £6.80 an hour for a standard vehicle and £8.50 to £10.20 for a diesel on the council’s 2026 to 2027 charges, revised on 21 September 2026.
If you are the outgoing tenant, buying a voucher before you leave is the simplest answer.
Furniture left in the flat
Residents get two free bulky waste collections a year, up to five items each time, from their own home. The items have to wait outside at ground level; a landing, balcony or basement will not do. The crew does not enter homes and has no keys or fobs for the bin stores in many blocks, so the council tells flat residents to ask the concierge, caretaker or housing manager where items should go. Arrange it before the cleaning day so the rooms are clear.

Questions about moving out in Tower Hamlets
Can I buy a visitor voucher for the cleaners?
If you live at the address, yes: one day costs £3.90. Landlords and owners who live elsewhere cannot buy them, so tell us who will be at the flat on the day when we ring back.
Does a shared flat in Bow need a licence?
If three or more people from two or more households live there, it does. The additional licensing scheme covers the whole borough until 31 March 2029, and the council decides each case.
Is a build-to-rent flat priced differently?
The price follows the bedrooms, so a two-bed in a Canary Wharf rental building is £243, the same as a two-bed anywhere else in the borough.
Can the team use the lift and the loading bay?
Rules differ between buildings. Ask your concierge or building manager about contractor hours and where a car can stop to unload, then pass that on when we call, so the team arrives at the right entrance.
When should the clean be booked?
After the last of your things have gone and as close to the check-out as the dates allow, so nobody uses the kitchen or bathroom in between.
Book online in a minute, or ring and talk it through.
