Mews streets in Mayfair turned old stabling and coach houses into homes, though most households here live in flats; a weekly cleaner for either costs £23 an hour, with deep cleans from £186.

The two Census areas used here for Mayfair hold about 1,456 households. 86.0% of them live in flats (73.9% in purpose-built blocks), 9.7% in terraced houses and 6.5% in converted or shared houses. Those areas do not match Mayfair’s edges exactly, so take the shares as a guide.

A Mayfair visit from the kerb to the last floor

The job starts outside. Mayfair is parking zone E, a single sub-zone, where resident bays are controlled 24 hours a day, bank holidays included, so the cleaner parks in a pay-to-park bay. Westminster warns that fake ‘Scan to Pay’ QR stickers have been stuck on pay-to-park signs, especially in Mayfair and St James’s, and that the only valid ways to pay are the RingGo, PaybyPhone or JustPark apps, a phone call or a Parking Card.

Getting in depends on the building, because Mayfair was almost fully built by 1780 and many of its town houses were rebuilt as their 99-year leases ran out. Italianate stucco, Queen Anne, Arts and Crafts, neo-Georgian and some modernist buildings now stand side by side, and the Neighbourhood Plan describes homes from social housing to high-end residences. A porter’s desk, a shared door beside an office or a mews front door each need a line on the form, so the cleaner knows the way in before arriving.

Inside, the order holds whatever the building. Kitchen surfaces, the hob and the sink come first, then the bathrooms, then dusting from the high shelves down to the skirting, and finally the floors, worked back towards the door. Limescale takes the extra minutes: Thames Water, which usually supplies Westminster, calls all of its water hard, and it shows on chrome taps, shower glass and around the plughole.

On a deep clean the team adds the jobs a weekly visit leaves: inside the kitchen cupboards and the fridge, extractor filters, door frames, radiators, the window tracks and the grout. They bring the equipment and products; you leave the water and electricity on.

Mayfair cleaning prices

A regular cleaner costs £23 an hour weekly or £24 an hour fortnightly, for at least three hours, which is £69 for a weekly visit. Deep cleans run at £26 per cleaner-hour plus a single £30 for equipment and detergents, from £186 for two cleaners over three hours. Nothing one-off costs less than £67.

Moving out is priced by size, from £156 for a studio to £339 for three bedrooms, on the Westminster end of tenancy page. Carpets start at £36 a bedroom through carpet cleaning, and a single oven is £77 through oven cleaning; every other figure is on the price list.

In zone E a pay-to-park bay costs £4.56 to £10.10 an hour by the vehicle’s emissions and a daily trade permit £65.20, but what we add for street parking on a one-off job, where there is nowhere free to stop, never goes above £40. Mayfair is inside the Congestion Charge zone, which TfL edges along Park Lane, so the daily charge is already part of the price for one-off work here.

Wards, licensing and the W1J split

The adopted Mayfair Neighbourhood Plan treats the area as bounded by Park Lane, Oxford Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly, and calls it mainly commercial in feel, with quiet residential streets and squares. Inside those lines, 48.2% of households in the Census areas rent privately and 33.3% own their home.

For landlords, the ward matters more than the postcode. West End ward is in Westminster’s selective licensing scheme from 24 November 2025 to 23 November 2030; St James’s ward is one of the three wards left out. Postcodes.io lists both wards for W1J, so one W1J address can be inside the scheme and another outside it. The additional HMO scheme, renewed from 31 August 2026, applies in both wards to shared homes of three or more people from two or more households.

The Westminster page has the licensing picture for the whole city. Across Park Lane, Hyde Park and Bayswater are outside the Congestion Charge zone.

Booking a clean in W1K, W1J or W1S

Fill in the form, or ring 020 3734 1438 at any time. We ring back to settle the date and check the price against the home; a 50% deposit secures the slot and the rest is paid after the clean. Cleaners are vetted and trained, and they work from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week.

Mayfair cleaning questions

The parking sign outside has a QR code. Can the cleaner pay with it?

No. Westminster says fake ‘Scan to Pay’ stickers have appeared on pay-to-park signs, mostly in zones E and F, and that the only valid ways to pay are the RingGo, PaybyPhone and JustPark apps, a phone call or a Parking Card.

Is my W1J flat covered by selective licensing?

It depends on the ward. West End ward is in the scheme; St James’s ward is outside it. The W1J postcode district contains both, so check the ward on the council’s site. HMO licensing applies in either case.

Do you clean mews houses?

Yes. Mayfair’s mews streets were stabling and coach houses before they became homes and businesses. Tell us how many floors and bathrooms the house has, and we will agree the hours when we ring back.

Do you clean social and affordable homes in Mayfair too?

Yes, at the same prices as anywhere else. The Neighbourhood Plan describes Mayfair’s housing as running from affordable and social homes to high-end residences, and 18.3% of households in the Census areas rent from a council or housing association.

How much is a deep clean of a Mayfair flat?

It is charged by the hour: £26 per cleaner-hour plus £30 for equipment and detergents, from £186 for two cleaners and three hours. A larger flat or a house takes more hours, and we tell you the total on the phone before you pay the deposit.

Send the postcode, the type of home and the number of bedrooms, and we will ring back with a price for your Mayfair clean.
