A man at a long wooden table in a converted warehouse flat with exposed brick

Nearly every Shoreditch home is a flat (95.9% in Hoxton East & Shoreditch ward), some inside converted warehouses, and a weekly cleaner for one costs £23 an hour with three hours as the shortest visit.

Homes in Hoxton East & Shoreditch ward

The ward had 5,382 households at the 2021 Census. 83.5% of them live in purpose-built blocks. Another 6.7% live in a converted building such as an old warehouse, church or school, about double the Hackney figure of 3.4%, and 3.7% have a flat inside a commercial building. Terraced houses are rare at 2.4%. Private renting (40.6%) and social renting (40.0%) are almost level, and only 16.5% of households own their home.

The conservation areas explain the mix. South Shoreditch, first designated in 1991 and extended in 2019 and 2021, takes its character from the 19th-century furniture and printing trades, whose workshops and warehouses still line its streets. Hoxton Street, designated in 1983, keeps a market street with some 18th-century houses and terraces of three and four storeys with old shopfronts, surrounded by much larger council estates. Hoxton Square, Charles Square and Windsor Terrace are protected London Squares. The council also notes how quickly the area has changed, with schemes such as Principal Place built at a City scale beside the older streets.

A warehouse flat puts the cleaning time in different places from a block flat. Exposed brick sheds dust onto the surfaces below it, timber floors run the length of the room and the ceilings are high. Tell us about a mezzanine or an open stair when you book, so the hours are right from the start.

Shoreditch cleaning prices

Weekly cleaning is £23 an hour and fortnightly cleaning £24, three hours at least. A deep clean is £26 for each cleaner-hour plus one £30 charge for equipment and detergents; the smallest booking, two cleaners for three hours, is £186. One-off work starts at £67. For a move the end of tenancy clean is fixed by size: £156 for a studio, £207 for a one-bed and £243 for a two-bed, with bigger flats, carpets and ovens on the full price list. Street bays in Shoreditch are among the dearest in Hackney, so where a one-off clean has no free parking close by, the bay goes on the bill at cost and never above £40.

Inside a regular visit and a deep clean

A regular visit works through the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedrooms and the living space in that order, so finished floors stay clean: surfaces and appliance fronts wiped, the hob and sink cleaned, dusting from shelf height down, beds made and the floors vacuumed and mopped. The water here is hard. Thames Water’s 2025 reports for its Hackney South, Bethnal Green and City supply zones give mean hardness of 278, 276 and 266 mg/l, and one Hackney South sample reached 309 mg/l, just past the 300 mg/l line the company calls very hard. Taps, shower screens and kettles get descaled on every visit for that reason.

A deep clean is the one-off version with nothing left out: the insides of cupboards, the fridge and the oven hood, skirting boards, door frames, window frames and their tracks, grout, and the dust that settles on high shelves and ledges. The team brings the equipment and products; you keep the water and electricity on.

Tenants leaving a flat can book an end of tenancy clean in the borough, and if the inventory clerk or agent marks something we cleaned, tell us within 48 hours and we return to put it right at no charge. Carpets are washed by hot water extraction from £36 a bedroom through carpet cleaning in Hackney, with rugs cleaned where they lie. Oven cleaning starts at £77 for a single oven, done by hand in your kitchen and ready to use that evening.

Parking zones, licences and the borough line

Shoreditch is covered on the wider Hackney page, but its parking runs later and costs more than in most of the borough. Zone B North is controlled Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to midnight, so an evening visit pays for the bay as well. Zone B South runs Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm and Saturday 8.30am to 1.30pm, and Zone F in Hoxton keeps the same hours as B South. Short stays in Zones A and B cost £4.65 to £7.90 an hour, the top band in Hackney, against £3.65 to £6.75 in Zone F, with a one-hour minimum. New homes and redevelopments in Hackney are car free, so a resident of a new block cannot buy an on-street permit.

For landlords, Hoxton East & Shoreditch, Hoxton West and Haggerston are outside the 17 wards in Hackney’s selective licensing scheme (1 May 2026 to 30 April 2031), so an ordinary single-household let here needs no selective licence, though HMO licensing still applies. The Boundary Estate, just east of Shoreditch High Street, sits in Tower Hamlets, where that council’s licensing and parking rules apply; the Bethnal Green page covers it.

Hoxton, Haggerston and the stations

Shoreditch High Street station, on the Windrush line, is in fare zone 1; Hoxton is in zones 1 and 2 and Haggerston in zone 2. The neighbouring wards lean further towards social renting, at 43.8% in Hoxton West and 47.2% in Haggerston, with private renting at 33.5% and 31.1%. Dalston and Angel, both close by, have pages of their own.

Shoreditch cleaning questions

Can you clean a warehouse conversion with high ceilings?

Yes. Old warehouses and workshops line many South Shoreditch streets, and in a flat inside one the extra time goes on brickwork dust, long timber floors and high ledges. Say on the form if there is a mezzanine or a tall stair, and we set the hours when we ring back.

Why does limescale come back so quickly in my Shoreditch flat?

The supply is hard. The nearest Thames Water zones average 266 to 278 mg/l, and the highest Hackney South sample in 2025 was 309 mg/l. Scale shows first on chrome taps and glass, which is why the cleaner descales them each visit.

Does my Shoreditch landlord need a selective licence?

Not for an ordinary single-household let in Hoxton East & Shoreditch, Hoxton West or Haggerston, which are outside Hackney’s selective scheme. HMO licensing still applies to shared homes.

Can the cleaner come in the evening?

We clean between 8am and 7pm, seven days a week. In Zone B North the bays stay chargeable until midnight, so a visit there is a paid session right up to our 7pm finish, while in Zone B South control ends at 6.30pm on weekdays.

My flat is on the Boundary Estate. Is that Shoreditch or Bethnal Green?

The estate is in Tower Hamlets, so Tower Hamlets’ parking and licensing rules apply to it. We clean there at the same prices as anywhere in Hackney.

Send the street and the number of bedrooms, and we will ring back with a price for your Shoreditch flat.
