Grandparents and a small boy laughing on the sofa of a 1930s semi-detached house

Over half of Enfield’s households live in a house: 28.9% in terraces, 24.8% in semis and 7.5% in detached homes. A regular cleaner costs £23 an hour, for three hours or more.

In a two-storey house that three-hour minimum (£69 on a weekly rota) is usually where the conversation starts, and a larger house may need an extra hour. Fortnightly visits cost £24 an hour. Deep cleans are £26 per cleaner-hour, plus £30 for the equipment and detergents the team brings, and the shortest one, two cleaners for three hours, is £186. Any other one-off job starts at £67; the price list sets out every service. If your road has no free parking, a one-off clean carries the parking cost on the day, at most £40.

Terraces in Highfield, flats in Edmonton Green

Enfield is far more house-based than Haringey next door. Flats hold 38.8% of households (30.4% in purpose-built blocks and only 6.5% in converted houses), and the share swings widely by ward: 16.7% of households in Highfield ward live in flats, against 58.9% in Edmonton Green. Highfield is also where terraced housing peaks, at 53.4%.

Just over half of households own their home (52.4%), 29.3% rent privately and 17.0% rent from the council or a housing association. Private renting runs from 18.4% in Bush Hill Park to 37.9% in Palmers Green, and social renting from 2.7% in Arnos Grove to 39.0% in Edmonton Green. The council puts the borough’s population at over 333,000, 12 miles from central London, and says its Meridian Water regeneration and estate renewal programmes are adding new homes.

Enfield lists 22 conservation areas, among them Bush Hill Park, Enfield Town, Southgate Circus, Southgate Green, Winchmore Hill, Grange Park, Ponders End Flour Mills and Fore Street Edmonton. Designation controls building work; the cleaning inside carries on as anywhere else.

Downstairs, then upstairs: a regular visit to an Enfield house

The cleaner starts on the ground floor. In the kitchen the worktops are cleared and wiped, the hob, splashback, sink and taps cleaned, the cupboard and appliance fronts wiped and the floor mopped. The living room and hall are dusted and hoovered on the way to the stairs, which are hoovered from the bottom up. Upstairs comes the bathroom (toilet, basin, bath or shower, mirror, tiles and floor) and then the bedrooms, with beds made from fresh linen if you leave it out.

Thames Water’s 2025 report for its Enfield Town supply zone gives 241 to 294 mg/l of calcium carbonate, a mean of 266, which it classes as hard. Parts of the borough may be supplied from other zones, but expect the same chalky marks on the taps and the shower screen, and a bathroom that takes a few minutes longer than the floor plan suggests.

A deep clean sends two cleaners through the whole house in more depth: door tops, skirting and radiators, window sills, inside emptied cupboards, grout and the limescale that builds up over months. To set up the weekly or fortnightly day, see domestic cleaning.

Carpets, ovens and moving out in Enfield

Houses mean stairs, and carpet cleaning in Enfield prices them separately: £41 a flight, £9 a landing and £22 a hallway, with bedrooms at £36. The carpets are cleaned by hot water extraction and usually dry in a few hours, sooner with the windows open. Oven cleaning in Enfield is £77 for a single oven and £110 for a double; the racks and trays soak while the inside is cleaned by hand, and the oven is ready for cooking the same evening.

For tenants leaving a let, end of tenancy cleaning in Enfield is fixed by size, £243 for two bedrooms and £339 for three. If the inventory clerk or letting agent picks out something we cleaned, tell us within 48 hours and we return and fix it at no charge.

Enfield’s licensing changed recently. A borough-wide additional scheme for shared homes, three or more people from more than one household sharing a kitchen or bathroom, started on 1 September 2025. Selective licensing of homes let to one or two people or one family followed on 1 September 2026 in 17 wards: Bowes, Brimsdown, Bullsmoor, Carterhatch, Edmonton Green, Enfield Lock, Haselbury, Jubilee, Lower Edmonton, Ponders End, Southbury, Upper Edmonton and Whitewebbs (Designation 1), and New Southgate, Palmers Green, Southgate and Town (Designation 2).

Booking and parking across Enfield

Ring 020 3734 1438 at any hour, or send the form with your postcode, the number of bedrooms and a preferred day. Between 8am and 7pm, seven days a week, we ring back to agree the date and confirm the price for your home. Half is paid as a deposit to hold the date, and the rest once the clean is complete. The cleaners we send are vetted and trained.

Enfield shows its controlled parking zone hours on an interactive map by address, so check your street there. Residents buy visitor vouchers in books of 10, £10.50 a book in zones with a 1 to 4 hour restriction and £21 for half-day vouchers in all-day zones, and the visitor scratches off the date and start time. On Tottenham Hotspur event days the South Edmonton and Sunnyside event-day zones operate from noon to 9pm. In the Bowes Primary Area and the Fox Lane Area, camera-enforced restrictions stop motor vehicles passing certain points, with exemptions only for eligible residents, so a cleaner may have to drive round to reach your door.

Questions about cleaning in Enfield

Does my Enfield let now need a selective licence?

If it is let to one or two people or a single family in one of the 17 listed wards, yes: the scheme started on 1 September 2026. Shared homes anywhere in the borough have needed an additional licence from 1 September 2025. The council’s licensing page lists the wards. None of this changes the price of the clean.

Can the council take an old cooker or fridge before a move-out clean?

Yes, by one of two routes. Fridges, freezers and cookers that have been emptied can go free through AnyJunk for the North London Waste Authority, or the council collects them for £54, £60 or £66 for one, two or three items. Other bulky items are collected free, up to six per booking, left at the front edge of the property by 5:30am, or on a day you choose for twenty-two pounds.

We live on Meridian Water. Where can the cleaner park?

Meridian Water is a restricted parking zone, with parking only in signed bays from 9am to 9pm every day. Visitor vouchers there cost £2.10 per half day, with 50 a year per property; the resident supplies one for the cleaner’s car.

Is Enfield too far out for a regular cleaner?

No. Enfield is one of the 32 boroughs we cover, and a weekly visit here is £23 an hour, the same rate as anywhere else in London.

Send the postcode and the number of bedrooms, and we will ring back to agree a day.
