Housing in Royal Greenwich now
The 2021 Census puts ownership at 41.1%, with another 2.2% in shared ownership. Social renting is 31.0% (18.6% from the council, 12.3% from other social landlords) and private renting 25.5%. Just over half of households, 51.6%, live in flats, most of them in purpose-built blocks (43.1%); terraced houses are 26.7%, semi-detached 17.6% and detached 4.1%.
On Greenwich Peninsula, the masterplan the Mayor approved in November 2015 brings the total to 15,720 homes. The older streets are protected: the council lists 23 conservation areas, with Article 4 directions in West Greenwich, East Greenwich, the Ashburnham Triangle and the Progress Estate among others.
Landlords work under three licensing schemes. Mandatory licensing for larger HMOs and additional licensing for smaller ones (three or more people from separate households sharing a kitchen, bathroom or toilet) both cover the whole borough, the second from 1 January 2024. Selective licensing, in force from 1 October 2022, covers central Woolwich and Plumstead. A consultation that closed on 12 October 2026 proposed replacing it with a five-year scheme across 18 wards at £974 a property, and Cabinet is due to decide towards the end of 2026 (see the council’s consultation page).
Woolwich, home to today’s selective scheme, has a page of its own, and so does Blackheath, whose Blackheath and Blackheath Park conservation areas are both on the council’s list.

Regular and deep cleaning across the borough
A weekly or fortnightly cleaner takes care of the rooms you use every day: kitchen surfaces, the hob and sink, the bathroom suite, then dusting, hoovering and mopping. In a newly built Peninsula flat that may be all the home needs, while a terraced house over two floors usually takes more than the minimum hours.
A deep clean is for the jobs a weekly visit skips: inside cupboards and the fridge, skirting boards, door frames and radiators, the space behind furniture and limescale. Greenwich water is hard. Thames Water’s 2025 report for its Charlton zone, which its lookup gives for an SE10 postcode in Greenwich Park ward, ranged from 233 to 337 mg/l and averaged 277, so the top of that range is very hard by the company’s own bands.
A new-build flat after fitting or decorating work needs an after builders clean (£30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for kit). Moving out is a fixed price by size on the Greenwich end of tenancy page, from £156. Carpets are cleaned by hot water extraction (carpet cleaning in Greenwich, £36 a bedroom), and ovens are cleaned by hand in your kitchen with the racks soaked (oven cleaning, £77 for a single).
- End of tenancy cleaningfrom £156A fixed price by the size of the home, with a 48-hour re-clean if the inventory clerk marks something we cleaned.
- Deep cleaningfrom £186A team of two or more for a day of the jobs a weekly clean never reaches.
- Domestic cleaningfrom £69 a visitA weekly or fortnightly cleaner, the same person where we can manage it.
- After builders cleaningfrom £212Dust, paint spots and grout film cleared once the trades have gone.
- Carpet cleaningfrom £67Hot water extraction priced by the room, rugs cleaned where they lie.
- Upholstery cleaningfrom £67Sofas, armchairs, mattresses and curtains, priced by the piece.
- Oven cleaningfrom £67Racks and trays soaked, glass and seals cleaned by hand in your kitchen, priced by oven type.
Greenwich prices
Regular visits cost £23 an hour weekly or £24 fortnightly, and never run under 3 hours, so they start at £69. Deep cleans are £26 for each cleaner-hour with two cleaners for three hours as the minimum, plus £30 for equipment and detergents, which brings the smallest to £186. One-off jobs start at £67. If the street has no free parking, parking is added at its cost on the day, never above £40. Upholstery, carpet and oven prices are all on the price list.
Booking a clean in Greenwich
Use the form or ring. We call you back to fix the date and confirm the price against the home, then a 50% deposit secures the booking; the balance is due when the clean is done. Hours are 8am to 7pm, seven days, and the line, 020 3734 1438, takes calls at any time. Water and electricity need to stay on for the visit.

Questions about cleaning in Royal Greenwich
Do you clean flats on Greenwich Peninsula?
Yes. The peninsula is planned for 15,720 homes in all, and we clean any of them. Tell us the building, the floor and how visitors are let in, and we plan the visit around the concierge or entry system.
Can I get a parking permit for the cleaner?
Usually, if your address is inside a controlled parking zone: Royal Greenwich sells a virtual tradesperson permit lasting one to six weeks. Each property can have two at most, and the vehicle must be under 1.95 metres wide and 3 metres tall.
Do you clean council and housing association homes?
Yes. In Royal Greenwich 18.6% of households rent from the council and 12.3% from other social landlords, and the prices are the same as for any other home: £23 an hour for weekly visits, £186 for the smallest deep clean.
How do I get rid of old furniture before a deep clean?
Book the council’s bulky waste collection. Royal Greenwich charges £13.82 per item, or £4.19 per bag with a £16.76 minimum, and the items have to be out by 6am on the booked day.
Can you clean a period house in West Greenwich?
Yes. West Greenwich, East Greenwich and the Ashburnham Triangle all have Article 4 directions protecting original features, so if your house still has its old floors, tiles or fireplaces, point them out on the phone and the cleaner treats them with care.
