A woman on a window seat in a mansion block flat with tall sash windows

Behind the lightwells and area railings of Dorset Square stand four-storey Georgian houses of stock brick and stucco; a regular cleaner for a Marylebone home costs £23 an hour, three hours a visit.

Those houses are the exception in number. At the 2021 Census 90.3% of Marylebone households lived in flats, 69.4% of them in purpose-built blocks and 14.7% in converted or shared houses, while terraced houses held 7.7%. Private renters outnumber owners by about two to one (61.9% against 29.1%), and 8.3% rent from a council or housing association.

Harley Street, the High Street and the Portman Estate

The Harley Street conservation area, between Oxford Street and Marylebone Road, keeps its Georgian terraces of narrow townhouses, mixed in with Victorian and Edwardian mansion flats. Along Marylebone High Street the homes are Edwardian and late Victorian flats and mansion blocks over the shops. The Portman Estate holds on to much of its late eighteenth century grid of terraces and squares, with mansion blocks and civic buildings along Marylebone Road, and Manchester Square has some of its oldest houses.

For the cleaner, that mix sets the hours. A four-storey house behind a lightwell means stairs from the area up to the top floor and usually more than one bathroom, so it needs longer than the three-hour minimum. A one-bed mansion flat with a lift will often fit inside it. A flat over a shop sits somewhere between, depending on the stairs and how the street door works, so tell us about the entrance when you book.

Marylebone cleaning prices

Weekly cleaning is £23 an hour and fortnightly £24, with three hours as the shortest visit, so a week’s clean costs from £69. A deep clean is £26 for each cleaner-hour and £30 once for equipment and detergents, which makes £186 for the minimum of two cleaners working three hours. One-off work of any kind starts at £67.

A tenancy clean is a fixed price by bedrooms, from £156 for a studio through £243 for a two-bed to £425 for four bedrooms; the full price list has carpets, sofas and ovens as well. On a one-off job with no free bay near the door, the street parking is added at what it costs on the day, up to £40. South of Marylebone Road you are in the Congestion Charge zone, and for one-off cleans there the daily charge is inside the price we quote; the streets north of the road are outside it.

Included in a regular or deep clean

A regular visit works through the same list each time: kitchen worktops, hob, sink and cupboard fronts; the bathroom, with the bath or shower, basin, toilet and mirror; dusting of shelves, sills and surfaces; and floors hoovered and mopped on the way out. Thames Water says every supply in its region is hard, so the chrome and glass in a Marylebone bathroom get descaled on each visit to stay clear.

A deep clean is the one to book before a rota begins or after a long gap. It takes in what a three-hour visit cannot reach: kitchen cupboards inside and out, the fridge, the extractor hood, door frames and skirting, light switches, behind furniture that can be moved, and the grout. The team brings the equipment and detergents; the water and electricity stay on.

Moving out, carpets and ovens are covered by the Westminster pages. The end of tenancy clean comes with a return visit at no charge if the inventory clerk or agent marks something we cleaned and you tell us within 48 hours. Carpet cleaning is hot water extraction priced by the room, with rugs done where they lie, and an oven clean happens in your own kitchen, ready to use the same evening.

Parking zone F, licensing and the zone boundary

Most of Marylebone is in parking zone F (Hyde Park, Marylebone and Fitzrovia). There, pay-to-park bays and single yellow lines are controlled from 08:30 to 18:30 Monday to Saturday, and resident bays from 08:30 to 20:30 every day in sub-zones F2 and F3 and around the clock in F4, F5 and F6. A bay costs £4.78 an hour for the cleanest vehicles and £10.58 for the most polluting, banded by DVLA emissions, with a 50% surcharge on diesels from before 2015. The daily trade permit for zone F is £68.30, the joint highest of the seven zones, and it works only in the zone it was bought for.

The council’s zone map puts Marylebone High Street, Portman Square and Bryanston Square in the F sub-zones and the streets north of Marylebone Road in zone B (B10 and B11). That map is old, so the sign on your street is the one to trust. The same road is the Congestion Charge edge: Paddington station and Bayswater are outside the zone.

Marylebone ward and West End ward both sit in selective licensing Designation 2, running from 24 November 2025 to 23 November 2030, with the borough-wide additional HMO scheme alongside it for shared homes of three or more people from two or more households. The Westminster page lists the wards in each designation.

Booking a Marylebone clean

The form takes a minute; you can also ring 020 3734 1438 whenever suits you. We call back to fix the day and confirm the price against the home itself, then a 50% deposit holds the booking and the remainder is due when the cleaner has finished. Visits run from 8am to 7pm, every day of the week.

Marylebone cleaning questions

My flat is above a shop on Marylebone High Street. Can you clean it?

Yes. Most homes on the High Street are Edwardian and late Victorian flats and mansion blocks above shops. Tell us how the street door works and which floor you are on, since stairs with a vacuum and a bucket add time.

Do you clean Georgian townhouses with a basement floor?

Yes. Houses like those on Dorset Square run to four storeys behind a lightwell, and we price them by the hours they need, agreed with you on the phone. A deep clean of a whole house usually needs more than the two-cleaner, three-hour minimum.

I rent in Marylebone and my tenancy is ending. What does the clean cost?

It is a fixed price by size: £156 for a studio, £207 for one bedroom, £243 for two and £339 for three. Should the check-out report mark anything we cleaned, ring within 48 hours; we send someone back and there is nothing more to pay.

Is a Sunday clean any easier to park for?

Only partly. Pay-to-park bays in zone F are controlled Monday to Saturday, but in sub-zones F2 and F3 the resident bays are controlled every day until 20:30, and in F4 to F6 they are controlled 24 hours a day. We work Sundays, from 8am to 7pm.

Which Tube stations are closest?

Baker Street, in Zone 1, has the Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith and City, Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, and Marylebone station is in Zone 1 on the Bakerloo line. If you are near either, the station name is a quick way to tell us where you are when you ring.

Tell us the street and whether it is a flat or a house, and we will ring back with a price for your Marylebone clean.
