Putney has five conservation areas named after it, and two in three households here live in a flat; a weekly cleaner for one costs £23 an hour.
Fortnightly cleaning is £24 an hour. A deep clean is £26 per cleaner-hour plus £30 for equipment, from £186, and one-off jobs start at £67. Everything else is on the price list. If your road has no free parking, the cost of a bay that day is added, to a maximum of £40.
Putney homes and the time a clean takes
Across East Putney, West Putney and Thamesfield wards, 49.5 per cent of households live in purpose-built flats, 15.5 per cent in converted or shared houses and 19.3 per cent in terraced houses, with semis at 9.2 and detached houses at 4.0 per cent. The hours below are a guide for a home in ordinary order; we agree them on the call.
| Home | Share of households | Weekly visit | Deep clean, two cleaners |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat in a purpose-built or mansion block | 49.5% | 3 hours, £69 | 3–5 hours |
| Flat in a converted house | 15.5% | 3 hours, more with stairs inside | 3–5 hours |
| Terraced house | 19.3% | 3–4 hours | 5–6 hours |
| Semi or detached house | 13.2% | 4 hours or more | 6–8 hours |
The ward matters as much as the type. East Putney is the renter-heavy one, 74.4 per cent flats and 42.2 per cent private renting, while West Putney has 28.9 per cent private renting and a larger social rented share, at 20.3 per cent. Overall 48.4 per cent of households own their home and 12.7 per cent rent from a social landlord.
Licensing, three councils and the riverside
From 1 April 2026 East Putney and West Putney wards, with Northcote, are in Wandsworth’s second selective licensing designation, which runs to 31 March 2031, so ordinary private lets there need a licence. Thamesfield, around the town centre, is outside it. The postcode adds a twist. SW15 also covers Roehampton and West Hill, Richmond’s Mortlake and Barnes Common ward and Kingston’s Coombe Hill, so the postcode by itself does not tell a landlord whose rules apply. The Wandsworth borough page has the wider picture, and Richmond covers the Barnes side.
Putney Embankment is the oldest part of Putney. St Mary’s Church dates from about 1450, mid-Victorian boathouses line the river and the High Street has late Victorian shop terraces, with mansion flat blocks and a former wharf rebuilt as a residential square. West Putney joins the Georgian and Victorian town to a later, largely Edwardian suburb laid out on former fields, and the council’s appraisal divides it into six character areas. East Putney mixes quiet streets and busy main roads with buildings from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, where Second World War bomb damage made room for later infill. Period sash windows sit a few streets from riverside new-builds, so tell us which kind of home you have.
Regular cleaning, deep cleans and the extras
A regular cleaner works through the kitchen, bathroom, dusting, beds and floors on each visit and takes the bins out at the end. The water is hard wherever you are in Putney. Postcodes here fall across four Thames Water zones: Putney Heath (252 mg/l as calcium carbonate in 2025), Putney Central (259), Barnes (260) and Wandsworth Wandle (265). So shower screens and taps get attention every time.
A deep clean takes a team further: inside the cupboards and the fridge, behind and under what can be moved, door frames, skirting boards, radiators and grout. Book one before a regular rota starts, or before a sale or a family visit. The rota itself is explained on the domestic cleaning page.
For moving out, end of tenancy cleaning is fixed by size, £207 for a one-bed and £243 for two; if the inventory clerk or agent marks something we cleaned, tell us within 48 hours and we come back to fix it for nothing. Carpet cleaning by hot water extraction starts at £36 a bedroom, and an oven clean at £77, by hand in your kitchen and ready that evening.

Questions about cleaning in Putney
Is parking easier in a one-hour zone?
Often, yes. On Lower Richmond Road, zone A5 is controlled only from 9.30am to 10.30am on weekdays, in permit-holder-only bays, so a later start can keep the car outside the controlled hour. Putney High Street (zone A1) is different: Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 6.30pm at £4.30 an hour, with a one or two hour maximum. Tell us your street when we ring back.
Do you clean in Roehampton and West Hill too?
Yes. Both are Wandsworth wards in SW15, and we cover them along with East and West Putney and Thamesfield. The Upper Richmond Road A3 stretch is controlled Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm at £3.70 an hour for up to four hours, which suits a weekday clean.
Where can I get rid of furniture before a clean?
Wandsworth’s free Mega Skip Days include Putney Park Lane (SW15 5HU), Wildcroft Road (SW15 3AP), Portinscale Road (SW15 2HY) and the Alton estate (SW15 4DU), with up to six items per resident.
Does licensing change the clean at the end of a let in East Putney?
No. The licence is between the landlord and the council. The clean is priced by size like any other, and the 48-hour return for marks the inventory clerk finds applies in the same way.
Which stations are nearest?
Putney rail station (South Western Railway) and East Putney (District line) are both in fare zones 2 and 3, and Putney Bridge, also on the District line, is in zone 2.
Send the street and the size of the home, and we will ring back to agree a day.
